Show The Plug, Not The Cable
September 25th, 2007 by Jerome Dahdah37Signals get it right yet again, making a very good point about online shop usability: why do so many shops show the whole cable, when all you really need to see are the plugs? Show the plugs already!
This translates well to all the other web apps, too:

Interesting point but I feel the reason you get the whole wire is not because its to show the product. But it is because a site is probably powered by a CMS and your average user who updates the CMS will not be using Photoshop to edit the wire and focus on the ends.
